Biographies

Desiree Hoving

Desiree Hoving is a science journalist and moderator. She studied Communication Science at University of Twente and worked at TNO and Delft University of Technology before switching to journalism. Since 2009 she is self-employed and writes for several magazines, newspapers and moderates for organizations about a wide range of science related topics.


Geerten van de Kaa

Geerten van de Kaa is Assistant Professor of Standardization and Business Strategy at Delft University of Technology. He holds a PhD from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. His research focuses on a better understanding of the standardization process in order to enable complex innovations and solve societal and business challenges.


Frans van Lunteren

Frans van Lunteren is Professor in the History of Natural Sciences at Leiden University and the Free University in Amsterdam. The research of Van Lunteren focuses mainly on the interaction between science and society in the Dutch natural sciences between 1815 and 1940, particularly in the field of physics.


Gert Rietveld

Gert Rietveld is Chief Metrologist at the national measurement institute VSL, Delft, where this research focuses on measurement science for power and energy and smart electrical grids. He is member of the International Committee for Weights and Measures (CIPM) that prepared the recent decision for revision of the international system of units, the SI.


Rik van Terwisga

Managing Director of Royal NEN, the Dutch normalization network for development and application of standards for products, services, methods and processes. NEN brings together national and international stakeholders and helps them to achieve widely accepted standards.


Henk de Vries

Prof. Dr. Ir. Henk J. de Vries is Professor of Standardisation Management at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, and Visiting Professor at the faculty of Technology, Policy and Management of Delft University of Technology. He is President of the European Academy for Standardisation EURAS. Henk is (co)author of 380 publications on standardisation.
