10/09 Outdoor Cinema: Hidden Figures

10 september 2019 20:45 t/m 23:00 - Door: Communication

Who doesn’t love outdoor cinema? On Tuesday 10 September you can celebrate the end of the summer and the start of the fresh academic year by attending this outdoor cinema event at the front square of X. In collaboration with Filmhuis Lumen, we will be screening the movie ‘Hidden Figures’.

About the Movie
Hidden Figures tells the story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe), three brilliant African-American women who work for NASA in the 1960’s. These mathematicians served as the brains behind the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit. This achievement turned around the Space Race, but these key players’ story remained untold so far. Yet the visionary trio crossed all gender and racial lines.

We hope to inspire you with the dedication of these scientists and start your coming semester with a boost of positive energy.

Since Dutch weather can be unpredictable, there is a second date in option: Tuesday 17 September. In case of bad weather conditions, the event will be moved one week. We will inform this at the latest on two days prior to the event’s initial date. Tickets cost € 7.50 and need to be purchased in advance of the event. The tickets will include a chair and a voucher from Filmhuis Lumen. In addition, drinks and snacks can be purchased.
