This lecture, entitled “Building—Intervening—Connecting,” presents the most recent work of the Beijing-based office Vector Architects, which was founded in 2008 by Dong Gong.

Projects include the renovation of the Captain’s House, Seashore Library, and the Seashore Chapel. Gong was appointed as the Plym Professor at University of Illinois, and has been teaching at Tsinghua University since 2014. Vector Architects’s projects have been published by Casabella, The New York Times, A+U, Detail, The Architectural Review, Domus, amongst others.

The Berlage Keynotes is an ongoing lecture series featuring internationally prominent architects, designers, and thinkers who are at the forefront of design discourse and innovation. Organized and hosted by the Berlage, the series is part of the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment’s Public Programs held on Thursday evenings. A selection of speakers working from different disciplinary perspectives and in different geographic, cultural, and political contexts present how their work engages with contemporary issues and debates. This spring semester, speakers include Christ & Gantenbein, OOZE, Francesca Torzo, Manthey Kula, PRODUCTORA, Anna Puigjaner, Vector Architects, Kieran Long, and Diener & Diener.
