Code Initiative Workshop

20 april 2022 09:30 t/m 12:30 - Locatie: online | Zet in mijn agenda

20 April, 26 April, 4 May

We are delighted to invite all interested PhD candidates, Postdocs, and Faculty members from the Delft Institute for Computational Science and Engineering to the next edition of the Code Initiative Workshop. The workshop is offered by the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering and is structured in three (online) sessions, which will take place on April 20th, 26th and May 4th from 9.30 to 12.30. The workshop is free of charge.

The aim of this Workshop is to provide an overview of state-of-the-art tools and best practices that will help researchers improve their programming and code management skills.

Topics that will be covered during the training include:

Day 1: terminal, bash, python virtual environments
Day 2: research repository structure, Makefiles, introduction to git
Day 3: advanced git, continuous integration workflow, GitLab runners and pipelines

The sessions will be highly interactive, as instructors will be live coding, while participants are expected to follow along on their own computers. There will also be time allocated for participants to practice their skills in teams in break-out rooms.

The instructors will be: Dr. Heather Andrews Mancilla and Dr. Bianca Giovanardi.

The helpers will be: Giorgio Tosti Balducci, Javier Gutierrez Alvarez, and Sai Kubair Kota.

If you would like to participate, please register at this link before April 1st. Participation to this edition of the Workshop is limited to 20 trainees (on a first come first served basis). Although it is possible for participants to join individual sessions, we do recommend to join all three, as the Workshop is quite condensed and each session is a prerequisite for the next.

Once we have received your registration, we will send you the Zoom link for the sessions and the link to the Workshop materials.

Please contact Bianca Giovanardi or Heather Andrews Mancilla in case you have any questions. This workshop is organized by Aerospace Engineering.

Happy coding!
