Cities are facing huge functional, social and environmental challenges. With the changing climate, the constant flux of [forced] migration and growing economies, urban areas are continually transforming. This outlook has nudged municipal authorities around the world to leverage different imaginaries: positive-energy districts, smart cities, 15-minute neighbourhoods, the feminist city, net-zero, and so on.

Commitments like this raise several questions: What does the future of cities look like? How should we live and work in the future city? Which urban values will we hold in the future? How do we plan and govern the cities of the future? What methods and approaches should we use to shape future cities?
