Workshop | ChatGPT and Education: Practical Opportunities and Challenges for Teaching Staff | 29 March

29 maart 2023 16:00 t/m 17:30 | Zet in mijn agenda

We are inviting any interested faculty and staff to attend a 1.5 hour online workshop on the practical use of ChatGPT in education. This workshop is designed to help teaching staff members use ChatGPT more effectively, understand how students are using it, and discuss the ethics of AI in education.

During the workshop, Derek Lomas (lecturer at IDE) will share demonstrations of how ChatGPT can be used to brainstorm ideas, improve readability, and act as a sparring partner during academic writing. We will also share how ChatGPT can make up references, confabulate information and pose risks to academic integrity. Participants will have the opportunity to work in small groups to use ChatGPT to complete written assignments and then share their findings. We aim to foster a collaborative and open-minded environment where participants can share knowledge and learn from each other's experiences.

The goal for this workshop is to help participants gain a deeper understanding of the capabilities of ChatGPT and how it can be used in academic work, as well as practical tips for integrating it into various academic workflows and assignments. We will also address the urgent need for instructors to adapt their assignments to prevent cheating using ChatGPT, and provide strategies for promoting responsible and ethical use.

The workshop will be hosted online, and we encourage you to join us for this exciting opportunity to share knowledge and develop practical tips for using ChatGPT in academic work. If you are interested in attending, please sign up at this link: https://forms.office.com/e/sYLk2ehc7G
