We are happy to see that you are interested in joining the European Wind Energy Master!
Then it is now time to explore if you meet the requirements. First, you have to fulfil the general requirements of TU Delft (Bachelor Degree and GCPA & English Language Proficiency, valid for all EWEM students), then the EWEM specific requirements and finally the Track specific requirements (see below).
While reading through the EWEM and Track specific requirements, please do not feel discouraged to apply if you lack one or more requirements (e.g. none of your courses mentions the required working knowledge). Please use then your application (motivation letter, CV, additional information on the content of your courses) to describe and proof that your expertise is sufficient. Your application will then be assessed on an individual basis and admission might be considered.
The admission requirements are split in three categories:
-
The general requirements for Master programmes (Admission requirements and required documents) can be found here.
These are applicable for all EWEM applicants (with both an international and Dutch diploma), with some exceptions.
Exceptions for EWEM applicants are:
- GRE test: EWEM students do not have to take the GRE test.
- English Language Proficiency: If you graduated from a BSc or MSc programme at TU Delft, NTNU, DTU or University of Oldenburg, you do not need to submit the English Language Proficiency. Additional exceptions are defined on TU Delftâs website.
- Motivation Letter (essay): A clear and relevant essay in English (1,000 â 1,500 words) addressing the following:
- Your motivation for choosing the EWEM programme.
- Why you are interested in the EWEM partner universities and what you expect to find there.
- If your track has specialisation(s), which specialisation interests you the most and why?
- Describe your hypothetical thesis project: what kind of project would you prefer? What would you want to explore? Please limit your answer to 2-3 possible topics.
- Summarize in a maximum of 250 words your BSc thesis work or final project. Please include information about the workload.
- BSc Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA): Dutch and international applicants are required to have a CGPA of 75%, or the equivalent CGPA for the country where the degree was issued, as listed here. Preliminary transcripts are acceptable when applying, but the final degree certificate is required before the start of the programme.
Note for applicants in need of a Danish visa: Danish regulations require proof of completion of a full degree by July 1st of the year the programme starts). Applicants with an MSc and/or professional experience will be assessed on an individual basis.
Note for applicants with an TU Delft Bachelor degree: Applicants with a TUD Bachelorâs degree must submit their TUD transcript including CGPA statement (request via the online portal).
-
In addition to TU Delftâs requirements, the following requirements are defined for all EWEM applicants:
- Candidates must have obtained a BSc diploma of substantial quality and level corresponding to at least 3 years studies at University, equivalent to 180 ECTS. Please check the specific requirements under C. Track specific requirements to get more information about the necessary degree.
- The applicantâs qualifications must include a strong working knowledge of mathematics and experience in programming and applicants must document that they have fulfilled the following minimum requirements (if not explicit in the names mentioned on the transcripts, extra documentation is required!):
- Mathematics: 25-30 ECTS
- Physics: 10-15 ECTS
- Engineering design methodology: 5-15 ECTS
- Programming experience (Matlab, Python, or similar) using numerical methods for solving applied mathematical problems (youâll have to document it by mentioning courses in transcript and in CV under âSkillsâ).
- A working knowledge at bachelor level of at least four of the following five subjects is prerequisite for the central courses of the MSc program (if not explicit in the names mentioned on the transcripts, extra documentation is required!):
- Engineering design methodology
- Statics, mechanical vibrations, and strength of materials
- Fluid mechanics
- A CGPA of minimum 75% (or equivalent, see here) is required for all applicants.
Please note the following:
- Applicants that are enrolled in an integrated five year degree with no bachelor entry level must have passed 180 ECTS and will be evaluated on an individual basis.
- BEng graduates are assessed on an individual basis.
- MSc graduates and/or professional experience applicants will be assessed on an individual basis
- Preliminary transcripts are accepted when applying, but the final degree certificate must be received before the start of the program.
