Baran Usta

I am a PhD candidate under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Elmar Eisemann and Prof. Dr. Sylvia Pont in the Computer Graphics and Visualization group. I received my BSc(2015) and MSc(2018) from Sabanci University, Istanbul Turkey.

I study how our vision works and develop perceptually motivated techniques for better image generation and/or editing applications. After an image is viewed, the viewer builds a mental model of the scene. These representation properties do not always match with the real scenes. My goal is not only to bridge this gap but also to control it. A few example applications of this research are better and more flexible tools for designers, and faster and/or more memory efficient rendering algorithms.
