Late lab scale demonstration

A TRL is a measure to indicate the matureness of a developing technology. When an innovative idea is discovered it is often not directly suitable for application. Usually such novel idea is subjected to further experimentation, testing and prototyping before it can be implemented. The image below shows how to read TRL’s to categorise the innovative ideas.

Why?

Swarms of dependable, simple fully autonomous rovers can form an omnipresent virtually indestructible self-deploying sensor netwrok in harsh environments (incl. the Moon and Mars).

How?

Especially the optimisation of the swarm robots heavily relies on practical experiments in the CyberZoo to extract the models and parameters needed for the simulation of large swarms.

When?

Robot swarms will be excellently suited for surveillance task like finding drugs or explosives, for which presently dogs are used, or for exploration of dangerous areas, like collapsed buildings or caves on Mars.
