This demonstration shows six student research projects applying eye tracking. The presented topics are: packaging design, pool strategy assessment, person recognition, brand placement in movies, reading study and social media website usability.

Goals of the project

Eye tracking can assist human-computer interaction researchers in understanding visual display based information processing, and the factors that may influence the usability of an interface. In this context, eye tracking can be used to measure which parts of the display users look at (in which order with what level of intensity), and whether they are searching for information or processing information. By defining areas of interests on the visual display, the human-computer interaction researcher can study visibility, attention, meaningfulness and placement of specific interface elements, and use the gathered interface evaluation data to improve the design.
