MSc. Aselmaa, A.
I received my degree in “Business Information Technology” from the Tallinn University of Technology. My studies gave me a global understanding in all different aspects of IT – starting with databases modeling and ending with IT project management. I started working part time next to my studies rather early and my work responsibilities varied from system analysis, graphical design to implementation of web-based solutions. I continued working in the field of developing web-based solutions until joining TU Delft.
The core for my research is understanding sensemaking process and finding ways how to design for it. This will be done as part of an European project which aims to improve the external radiotherapy treatment planning. In clinical situation the radiotherapy team has limited information about the location of tumors – nevertheless they have to decide where is the exact location of it for treatment planning. At the same time they need to take into consideration the surrounding tissue that needs to be spared. Through my research I want to better understand what are the different variables which determine end user’s decisions and how to reduce the complexity through design.
