Kim, A.

Ahmee Kim is PhD candidate at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering.

Academic Background

Trained as a space designer, I had been working in interior design sector for 7 years in Italy and Korea. Running a design studio with a partner in Seoul, I designed houses and shops for small and medium-sized business owners. Since 2015, inspired by some of my clients in social sector, I was drawn to the topic of design-driven social innovation. I worked in a social enterprise for a couple of years, and through that experience I learned the possibility of design approach making differences in the public and social sector. My research topic is about design practices in governmental organizations. I aim to find out how to scale design practices in governments and how practitioners can benefit from this knowledge. I believe that big impact can be created in the public and social sector when governments can change their ways of working.
