Dr. Gonçalves, M.G.

Milene Gonçalves is Assistant Professor of Creativity in Product and Service Design at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. Her research interests include creativity, visual thinking, creative confidence, design process and cognition, co-evolution, co-creation, inspiration, strategic design, framing and reflection.

Academic Background

Dr. Milene Gonçalves is an assistant professor at TU Delft, where she leads the Connected Creativity Delft Design Lab. After being educated as a product designer (Faculdade de Arquictectura, Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal), Milene moved to TU Delft, where she completed a PhD on Design Creativity, on the inspiration process of designers and its influence on design creativity and innovation. Since 2016, she became assistant professor, researching and teaching on creativity, visual thinking and design processes.

Nowadays, Milene continues her research interests on creativity and visual thinking, in education and in collaboration with organisations. As part of her ambition to nurture creative confidence in education, the Minor Connected Creativity was launched in 2020. As part of the Healthy Start programme, Milene is particularly interested in supporting youth participation and involvement with the use of creative and visual practices, in co-creation approaches.
