Ir. Heijne, K.G.

Ir. Katrina Heijne is researcher and lecturer at the Design, Organisation and Strategy (DOS) department at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. As part of the minor Connected Creativity, she developed the courses 'Deliberate Creativity' and 'Practice of Creativity', which were launched in 2020. In addition, she is course coordinator of the master course 'Creative Facilitation' and coach in elective ‘Creating in Project Teams’.

Academic Background

Katrina remains open for research projects to further develop the topic she is so passionate about: Deliberate Creativity in teams, organisations and individuals. From 2016 till 2019 she was project leader of EU Horizon2020 project U_CODE, aiming to create software for co-design in urban planning.

She combines this position with her work as owner/creative consultant at SeriousCreativity, specialized in training individuals, groups and organizations to seize their creativity and improve deliberate creative processes. Her theory and approach are summarized in the science-based, but practical handbook: ‘Road Map for Creative Problem Solving Techniques – Organizing and facilitating group sessions.’

Her ambition is to bridge the gap between science and practice (and vice versa). In her role as Vice President of the European Association for Creativity and Innovation, she hopes to thrive this inspiring community, including its renowned ECCI conference.

Katrina received her MSc degree in Strategic Product Design in 2011. After her graduation she started as management trainee at Unilever R&D. During her 3.5 years at Unilever she has worked at the Consumer Insights and Disruptive Innovation department.
