MSc. Heijne, K.G.

Academic Background

Ir. Katrina Heijne is researcher and lecturer at the Product Innovation Management (PIM) section at the faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. She teaches the master course “Creative Facilitation” and is project leader of project U_CODE: a EU Horizon2020 project aiming to create software for co-design in urban planning. She combines this position with her work as owner/creative consultant at SeriousCreativity that aims at improving the quality of creative processes within medium and large businesses of all kind.

Katrina received her MSc degree in Strategic Product Design in 2011. In her graduation thesis she combined theory with pragmatism and developed the Crenovatie toolbox: a set of tangible tools that supports Small and Medium Enterprises in setting-up and executing creative ideation workshops.

After her graduation she started as management trainee at Unilever R&D. During her 3.5 years at Unilever she has worked at the Consumer Insights and Disruptive Innovation department. Since her interest in creativity and creative processes remained, she facilitated several ideation sessions on food products within Unilever. She also developed a tool (“workshop in a box”) to support project teams in setting-up and execute better briefing and creative problem solving workshops.
