Ir. Legemaate, E.C.

Eva Legemaate is researcher at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering.

Academic Background

Eva is a researcher at the design, organisation and strategy department of the faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. She has an interest in the field of social innovation, and researches how design can play a role in tackling complex social issues. This is also what she did during her graduation project for the municipality of Delft on loneliness among young people. She designed a stepwise model for civil servants, an approach based on systemic design and co-design, in which they move from an abstract policy towards concrete actions to tackle loneliness, together with relevant parties. Eva graduated in April 2020 and as a follow-up on her graduation project now mainly works on the Belonging Project in which we ask ourselves the question: how can we make young people flourish? Every person has the intrinsic need to belong and form relationships. Therefore, your sense of belonging impacts your overall wellbeing. In the project, we seek to understand and learn how we can design for belongingness and human connectedness among young people.
