Prof. dr. Lloyd, P.A.

Peter Lloyd is Professor of Integrated Design Methodology at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering.

Academic Background

Peter Lloyd is a Professor of Integrated Design Methodology at the TU Delft. He started academic life as an electronic engineer with a side interest in artificial intelligence, but became interested in the process of design so studied for a PhD in cognitive psychology looking at how designer’s think. This broadened into studies of how designers talk in practice, particularly in how stories form part of designing discourse. Most recently he has been interested in parliamentary debate as a practice of designing. He has been a leading player in the influential Design Thinking Research Symposium series since 1994, is currently chair of the international Design Research Society, and is Editor-in-Chief of the leading design research journal Design Studies.  He teaches in the area of design process, design ethics, and design theory and methodology.
