Prof. dr. ir. Nes, C.N. van
Nicole van Nes is professor of Human-Centered Design for Smart Mobility at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering for one day a week. Her main research interest is on securing safety in the transition to the autonomous vehicle by human centered design of the interaction with the new technologies in automated vehicles.
This chair is co-financed by SWOV Institute for Road Safety Research. Nicole is also head of the department `Human Factors in Vehicle Automation' at SWOV.
Academic Background
With a Master study in Industrial Design Engineering (TU Delft) and a PhD in Social Science (Rotterdam), Nicole’s research typically has a multi-disciplinary nature, bridging technology and behaviour, incorporating the interrelation between road design, vehicle design, and human behaviour. She has published in a wide range of journals on a wide range of topics.
