Dr. Niforatos, E.

Evangelos Niforatos is an Assistant Professor of AI-Powered Human Augmentation at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering.

Academic Background

Evangelos is a Computer Scientist and Assistant Professor at the Sustainable Design Engineering department of IDE, TU Delft. He holds a Ph.D. in Informatics from Universitá della Svizzera italiana (USI), Lugano, Switzerland, an Honours M.Sc. diploma in Computer Networks and Communications, and a B.Sc. degree in Informatics, both obtained from Ionian University, Corfu Greece. Evangelos left Greece for the first time in 2011 to work as a Research Assistant at the Universidade da Madeira (UMa), Funchal, Portugal. In 2018, Evangelos did the shift to industry and joined North Inc. (now Google), Kitchener, Canada where he worked as an HCI Researcher and Project Lead on Focals—the first socially acceptable smart glasses that resemble typical eyewear. Before moving to Delft, Evangelos was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Computer Science Department of NTNU, Trondheim, Norway. His research focuses on designing and developing AI systems that augment human perception and cognition. Ultimately, he is interested in utilising technology for extending human abilities beyond the humanly possible.
