Automotive is the domain of ‘self propelled, motorised vehicles’. Hence, although the car is dominant, the scope is much wider. And because Automotive Design is always considered in its mobility context, it widens even further.
The automotive industry is one of the most complex ones, in terms of structure (value chain, co-operations) and size (economical, politics). Its products are equally complex because they involve a vast range of materials, technologies, dynamics, aesthetics and human behavioural aspects. Automotive products are quantitatively and qualitatively linked to our position in society. Therefore, knowledge and experience, acquired in this domain, are applicable in all fields of design.
The minor Automotive Design is autonomous and provides a broad insight in Automotive Design and mobility. The minor is a valuable contribution to bachelor programs, and preparation for master programs, in mobility, Automotive Design and automotive engineering.
This is a selection minor. We aim for a balance between students of the various designing faculties and backgrounds. To apply, please send a brief motivation to firstname.lastname@example.org before the registration deadline as communicated on the general minor website. Include a description and/or a representative image of an of the shelf project that you are proud of, that represents your thinking, designing or engineering skills. It does not need to be an automobility related project.
Minors of the IDE faculty are open only for students from academic programs.
