Research

The research projects of the JMBC groups cover a wide range of topics. Some of the projects are rather fundamental, aimed at further developing basic insight in mechanisms and dynamics, while others are motivated by specific industrial applications. Moreover, the approach taken may vary from purely numerical to purely experimental, while in other projects analytical work takes a central place.

We have ordered the research activities in three main themes:

  1. Complex dynamics of fluids
  2. Complex structures of fluids
  3. Mathematical and computational methods for fluid flow analysis

The progress in the research projects is reported in the form of PhD theses, journal publications, contributions to conference proceedings, (chapters of) books, and in the form of presentations at conferences. The (refereed) scientific output of the JMBC groups is presented in the Annual Reports, which are downloadable from this website.

Some examples of JMBC research projects are given as research highlights.
