Agropolo

The TU Delft and BE-Basic Brazil office is actively involved in the Agropolo initiative. Agropolo Campinas is an inter-institutional platform, based on the concept of collaborative innovation, which aims to develop technical cooperation projects in the areas of agriculture, food, biodiversity, bioenergy, green chemistry and sustainable development. The activities are aimed at research, development and technological innovation, with extension to other research institutions and companies based in Campinas.

Via a series of workshops Agropolo is developing a Roadmap of the Bioeconomy for Brazil focusing on Sao Paulo State and more specifically on the Campinas region. The main idea is to create the basis for a world-class ecosystem in bioeconomy for Brazil that could be replicated in other regions and serve a model to boost Brazilian economic development.

BBEST

Every other year the Brazilian BioEnergy Science Technology Conference (BBEST) is organised. BBEST is an international conference on bioenergy and for the 2017 edition focuses on how bioenergy emerges as a possible leverage within the broader field of bioeconomy and on the synergies and opportunities ahead.  The office is closely involved in the organisation of this conference.

In a number of plenary and parallel sessions, the conference will bring together Sao Paulo, Brazilian and internationally leading scientists and the business community to present progress within FAPESP’s BIOEN program and its international partnerships on key topics such as responsible land use, crop productivity and resilient multifunctional landscapes, harvesting technology, impact of logistics and scale, integral biorefinery development, and emerging advanced materials and energy carriers for aviation, marine and road transport. The continued progress in thinking around the sustainable bioeconomy development to benefit both developing and developed countries will be discussed in the framework of an update of the SCOPE Bioenergy & Sustainability report. BBEST 2017 will also be the forum to present the latest innovation roadmaps of agro-forestry re-industrialisation programs. Check the BBEST website for more information.
