Use Dimensions and Altmetric Explorer

TU Delft now provides access to both Dimensions and Altmetric Explorer for Institutions (EFI).

What does Dimensions provide?

Dimensions is a dynamic, easy-to-use platform that offers a fast way to discover, understand and analyze the global research landscape. Users can explore the connections between different researchers and institutions and find and gain access to scholarly data, such as funded grants, publications, datasets, clinical trials, patents and policy documents. This tool enables researchers, staff, and leadership to measure and assess their research impact, identify collaborators and competitors, and use the data to inform decisions and develop strategic initiatives. Search results from Dimensions can also be easily transferred to the Altmetric EFI.

Why use Dimensions?

  1. Offering the most comprehensive collection of linked data in a single platform.
  2. Mapping the entire research lifecycle, by that following research from funding through output to impact.
  3. Delivering a more holistic view of the research landscape.
  4. Delivering a 360 degrees perspective of a research output: the cited and citing publications; related grants; supporting funders; article (alt)metrics; the related patents, clinical trials, policy documents, and datasets.
  5. Building context for search and evaluation.
  6. Offering full text searching regarding approx. 70% of the content.

What does Altmetric EFI provide?

Altmetric EFI provides advanced and customizable options for researchers, faculty, staff, and students looking to track altmetrics attention associated with their scholarly outputs. Altmetric EFI pulls its data from several sources, including (but not limited to) policy and patent citations, as well as news and blogs and social media, such as Twitter and Facebook. 2. Supporting reporting and analysis of research outputs by e.g. faculties.
  3. Gaining more insight into the global impact and productivity of all disciplines at TU Delft.
  4. Supporting open access initiatives and increase scholar visibility.
