Aeroelasticity of Strut-Braced Wings

Due to its combined structural and aerodynamic efficiency strut-braced wing (SBW) aircraft configurations have found their way back into aviation research. SBWs certainly have potential with regard to fuel burn reduction, but the high flexibility and complex load paths can have a critical impact on their aeroelastic behaviour. Aeroelastic tailoring is applied to further investigate the potential of SBW aircraft on a preliminary design level.
