Dr. Calvin Rans

Assistant Professor TU Delft

Calvin Rans received his PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Carleton University in 2007 for his work in the field of fatigue crack growth in riveted lap joints. Subsequently he continued his research efforts in fatigue and damage tolerance studying fatigue crack growth in hybrid metal-composite laminates at Delft University of Technology. Currently, Calvin holds an assistant professor position at Delft University of Technology. His current research efforts continue in the area of fatigue and damage tolerance, aircraft certification, and the implications of the latter on the application of novel manufacturing methods in the aerospace field. Recent research efforts have focused on Additive Layer Manufacturing (ALM) and exploitation of the manufacturing process to construct novel damage tolerant structures.
