Tulyp Wind Project

Type: RVO TKI Hernieuwbare Energie

The use of traditional wind turbines faces many objections because of noise pollution, shadow flicker, and horizon effects. Many wind energy projects fail due to these causes. The Tulyp project, driven by Arkom Windpower aims to make wind energy projects possible, also in complex environments, like urban, industrial and port areas. To achieve this, we are developing a 300kW Vertical Axis Wind Turbine, with the shape of a tulip.TUDelft’s contribution focus on the aerodynamic design of the rotor and wind farm. The project is sponsored by RVO, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, under a Hernieuwbare Energie (Sustainable Energy) subsidy.
