Samuel Kurtin

I chose to study at TU Delft because it is known around the world for it’s exceptional, first class Aerospace Engineering program. I quickly discovered that this was true, and the rigorous curriculum made this my most fascinating and difficult semester of my undergraduate studies to date. From studying real helicopter gas turbine engines in my Propulsion class, to testing new ways to analyse re-entry trajectories as a part of my independent research project, each day of the semester I discovered something exciting about aerospace! I grew as a student. My research professor helped me become a more efficient solo researcher by mentoring me throughout my project, and my fellow hardworking classmates that I was surrounded by pushed me to be a better student.

My exchange semester was more than just academics. The best decision that I made while studying in Delft was joining Force Elektro, the university Ultimate Frisbee team. Playing on the team was more than just a great workout every week; it was through this sports club that I found some of my best friends and got to travel to cities all over the Netherlands playing in Ultimate Frisbee competitions. To future exchange students: work hard at your academics, join a local sports team, student club, or organization at the culture center, foster an open mindset, and get ready to meet amazing colleagues from all over the world!
