Track: EWEM: Rotor Design

The master track Rotor Design is part of the European Wind Energy Master. It is aimed at students who want to acquire in depth-understanding of wind turbine rotor and blade design while experiencing a fully international classroom and double degree programme, supported by the world’s most prominent wind energy industries and associations.

What you will learn

The master is offered by an international consortium of the 4 top wind energy universities in Europe: TU Delft, DTU (Denmark), NTNU (Norway) and the University of Oldenburg (Germany). Students are expected to travel to 2 or more of these universities along the 2 years programme. In preparing engineers for a truly global wind energy sector, one of the EWEM programme’s goals is to train students to become resourceful professional engineering problem solvers capable of collaborating with colleagues from a wide array of cultural and professional backgrounds.

The Faculty of Aerospace Engineering is involved in the Rotor Design track. The latter offers you an in-depth understanding of the fields of rotor aerodynamics, aero-elasticity and blade technology, both theoretical and experimental, alongside with relevant engineering methods and applications and makes you develop a critical awareness of current issues and developments in the subject.

You will be able to apply and judge advanced analysis and design techniques in the profile of your choice: Aerodynamics or Structures and Composites.

Upon graduation you will receive a double degree, consisting of a MSc Aerospace Engineering from TU Delft and a MSc Engineering (Wind Energy) from DTU.

Take a look on the EWEM website for more details on semesters, courses and expected mobility.

Student profile

For the Rotor Design track a strong background in mathematics, physics and experience in programming is required. A working knowledge at bachelor level is required of at least Fluid mechanics, Statics and Materials science. More information on the programme and the admission requirements can be found on the EWEM website: www.windenergymaster.eu.
