MSc Track: Geo-Resource Engineering
Geo-Resource Engineering covers every aspect of the life cycle of mineral resources. This master track is designed to provide a solid understanding of the various aspects of the global mining industry across the whole mining value chain from exploration to marketable product. The course provides a state of the art technical basis in resource modelling, mine design and economic evaluation.
Beyond engineering other topics covered include: business economics, ethics and environmental engineering that inform decisions at every stage in the mineral life cycle. Unique aspects of the course include a clearly defined and structured programme for HSE management and the development of specific soft skills required for leadership.
As a student you will be provided with the tools, insight and creativity to identify, prioritise and control risks associated with mining projects in all phases of the life cycle. This programme offers a range of electives in three focus areas:
- Mining Engineering
- Environmental Engineering
European Mining Course
As an alternative to this in-house programme you can also elect to participate in the 2-year joint EMMEP programme provided by RWTH Aachen, University Aalto and TU Delft. This programme offers the specialisation European Mining Course (EMC) and runs in parallel to the in-house programme. It provides the opportunity of graduating with a triple degree from all the participating universities. Both the programmes provide international career prospects. But a characteristic difference is that the EMC aims to help you develop multi-cultural awareness, practical skills & an appreciation of the global nature of the mining industry. The in-house programme focuses on the commercial, business aspects as well as process optimisation.
