First year

The first three quarters of the programme are complementary and introduce you to the fundamental domains of Landscape Architecture.

In addition to developing design skills, students acquire knowledge of plants and vegetation types, soils, hydrology, ecology, sociology, history and theory of landscape architecture. The focus on the architectonic form and urban systems make the relationship with the tracks Urbanism and Architecture evident. Several excursions are organized to make theory tangible and put skills to the test.

In the fourth quarter of the first year students are free to choose a quarter programme from any design master track within the faculty. The Landscape Architecture track offers two optional programmes: one concerning heritage landscapes and the other is about a project to be built on site. See the MSc 2 design projects page for an overview of  MSc 2 design projects including examples of student work.

Second semester

Second year

In the first semester of the second year students develop a study plan, a proposal and a method paper for the graduation thesis. The graduation studio called Flowscape is structured around projects within our research programme: Landscape Composition & Systems. Students contribute to the research programme in the form of a design research, comparative analysis, design experiments and a research report.

An important objective during the graduation year is the development of a critical position in relation to the discipline, society and the built environment.
