TU Delft Debating Club (TUDDC)

The TUDDC aims to develop debating culture at the TU, improve the debating skills of its members, and compete in European debate competitions.

Confidence, strategy and rhetoric: these are valuable skills that you, as a future engineer, need, or else, the world will eat you alive when you try to pitch an idea that other people do not yet understand.

Debating will turn you into a more confident public speaker, as it hones your argumentation skills and teaches you how to think critically about a wide range of societal topics, including politics, economics, social and criminal justice. Through debating, you learn how to take on many different perspectives on a topic or issue and clearly formulate an argument in favour or against it - as such, you become a more eloquent and tactful speaker.

Our goal at the TU Delft Debating Club is to spread the art and science of debating - whether you are a student at the TU Delft or not! By offering many workshops on argumentation, as well as various themed workshops and weekly debates, we improve our members' skills in argumentation and public speaking.

To further sharpen these skills, we frequently participate in British Parliamentary style debating tournaments, both in the Netherlands as well as in Europe.
Convinced? Visit us at one of our weekly debating sessions or contact us. You do not need any experience - we will teach you how British Parliamentary debates work and how to build a structured speech. Before you know it, you have mastered the art of proving that you are always right!
