Let’s talk diversity: Inclusive Design and Technology

Diversity Talks is a series of free events that provides an open space to discuss and better understand diversity and inclusion. We will explore aspects of diversity within the context of science, technology and education as well as the work we do here as students, staff and management.

During this event we brought the discussion about inclusion towards the work done in the university, the research and the design that takes place here. We explored what an inclusive technology is, and how can it be designed. Also, we discussed current challenges and opportunities that scientists and engineers face when seeking to develop more inclusive technologies, including research funding. Contributions were made by Lotte Asveld, Assistant Professor at the faculty of Applied Sciences, who studies the societal aspects of biotechnological innovations, Ibo van de Poel, Professor in Ethics and Technology at the faculty of Technology, Policy and Management and Servaas Duterloo, Head of Unit Research Funding EU and International Programmes.
