Applying for a 'BSN'
The Citizen Service Number (BSN, burgerservicenummer) is a unique personal number with which you are registered with the government. Although you are not officially required to apply for a BSN, you need to have one for practical reasons, like opening a Dutch bank account and taking out an insurance.
