"Electricity storage & hydrogen feedstock production with a ‘battolyser’"

The transition from fossil energy to clean renewable electricity requires that security of supply can be guaranteed by capabilities to store electricity on both short day-night and long week-seasonal timescales. The recently presented 'battolyser' integrates the capabilities of a robust and energy efficient battery with alkaline electrolysis that produces hydrogen when the battery becomes fully charged. The technology will be described, as well as its place in a renewable energy system that both stores electricity and enables production of hydrogen for green chemistry and storable fuels.
