Dr. Johan Ninan is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), the Netherlands. Previously, he was Post-Doctoral Fellow at University College London (UCL). He is the editor of Social media for project management and is part of the international editorial board of journals such as the International Journal of Project Management (IJPM) and Project Leadership and Society (PLAS). He is recognized with the PMI Young Researcher Award, the IPMA Global Young Researcher Award, and the APM Paper of the Year Award.
Onderzoeksinteresses
Dr. Ninan's research primarily focuses on the transdisciplinary design of infrastructure with a key emphasis on engaging stakeholders from diverse disciplinary backgrounds to achieve societal impact. The areas of his study encompass stakeholder engagement, collaboration, innovation, resilience, safety, information and communication technology (ICT), and project organizing. He particularly emphasizes the significance of social media in infrastructure projects and utilizes online naturalistic data from an organizational power theoretical perspective.
He has conducted extensive studies on infrastructure megaprojects in various countries, including Australia, India, the UK, and the Netherlands. His research findings have been widely published in esteemed journals, such as Policy & Society, International Journal of Project Management, Project Management Journal, and Construction Management and Economics. Additionally, he contributes to the SAGE research methods collection titled "Doing Research Online" (DRO), and serves as the editor for the special collection on 'Novel Research Methodologies, Methods and Data in Project Studies.'
