Biografie

Lorenzo obtained his Masters degree in mechanical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in 2019, focusing on aerodynamics, turbomachinery and computational fluid dynamics. At the same time, he worked as an aerothermal engineering intern at GE Aviation in Munich. There he contributed as aerodynamicist to the design of an additively manufactured turbine central flame, while also performing numerical analysis (RANS, LES) in the framework of the  Soprano project, funded by the European Union Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. His final thesis, in cooperation with GE Aviation and ETH Zürich, dealt with the injection of supercritical fuel in combustion chambers for aeronautical applications.

The following year Lorenzo pursued the post-graduate Master of Research in Fluid Dynamics at the Von Karman Institute in Belgium. In the propulsion department he developed a novel fully coupled interface treatment for the conjugate heat transfer solver of the institute. In 2021, Lorenzo joined the Propulsion & Power group as Phd Candidate. His research focuses on the use of mixtures to improve the efficiency of Organic Rankine Cycles (ORC)
