In June 2014 he concluded his PhD (January 2010- June 2014) at the Faculty of Architecture and Built Environment, Delft University of Technology. This study is about the continual stride between 1860 and 2010 amongst the various interest groups involved with what the city of The Hague should look like. The thesis of the study states that the fragmented image that people in the city have or experience is the result of the wide variety of urban ensembles and public buildings, whether or not they are crowded together or even completed, that were successively presented and implemented by the interest groups involved. He did a PostDoc (May 2016-May 2018) at Beyond-the-Current-research-team of AE+T/MBE in the TU Delft. This work is part of the research program Research through Design which was financed by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) and Taskforce for Applied Research SIA. The research was about user preference-tested design solutions for cultural and architectural values and energy-efficient walk-up apartment building renovations of inter- and postwar buildings in Dutch city regions. Research was done with housing associations, institutes, and experienced renovation architects. Results were published in the Journal Sustainability. Currently he work as PostDoc at the 1M Homes initiative. This is an interdisciplinary platform of researchers of the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment with the aim to promote the development of knowledge towards an inclusive, affordable, climate friendly and healthy living environment. That enables a better design of future urban and building transformations.
