Profiel
Olga's expertise lies in architectural education and knowledge creation within the extended communities of knowledge. She has worked for NTUA as a senior researcher for the Horizon2020 program SoPHIA and has also been a member of several EU Tempus programs in collaboration with UNIWA. Her research interests include network learning in architectural education, design through research and the evolution of the design knowledge. Her work has been published in online scientific journals and presented in international conferences.
She currently focuses on circular economy and in particular, circularity's role in design from a systems perspective and the way it reorganizes both the educational experience, but also the architectural design practice.
Academische achtergrond
Olga Ioannou studied Architecture at the “Sapienza” University of Rome and received her diploma in Architecture from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2002). She earned a postgraduate degree from the Postgraduate Programme “Architecture - Space -Design” of the National Technical University of Athens (2012). She acquired her PhD at NTUA (2019) where she also lectured as a teaching assistant from 2014 to 2019. She developed a number of blended modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level. She also taught several Building Technology courses at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Thessaly in Volos, and at the Postgraduate Program of the University of Portsmouth's branch in Athens where she was Unit Leader of TECHNE.
