Profiel

Dr. Yunlong Guo is currently working as a Postdoc on the topic of maglev-derived system development. He is a recipient of the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships. His research is mainly on railway geotechnics and railway structure monitoring with cutting-edge methods (DIC, PIV, GPR, image analysis). Applying new materials and designs to railway tracks, e.g. recycled rubber chips, recycled ballast, and sleeper design. He is focusing on railway inspection using ground-penetrating radar and track inspection trains.

Projects:

  • Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship. European Commission and UKRI Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC), Re4Rail project (Grant No EP/Y015401/1), AI and digital twin-based automated technology to real-time repair, reuse, recycle and repurpose railway granular media.
  • Europe's Rail, Made4Rail, Maglev-Derived Systems for Rail (Design prototype of maglev and Airlev guided-way vehicle system for rail application). Participation.
  • Horizon 2020, In2Track - IN2ZONE. The next generation of railway transition zones in work packages 3 and 4 (design of a self-repairing transition zone; utilisation of new materials and designs in developing transition zone components).Participation.
