Track Biomechanical Design

Biomechanical Design deals with the interaction of mechanical technology with biological systems. This means investigating human movement, perception, and control characteristics, and designing adaptive, user friendly, and intuitive technologies. In contrast to the more clinically oriented MSc program in Biomedical Engineering, Biomechanical Design focuses on the engineering challenges of learning from biological systems for engineering applications, developing robust and forgiving robotics, and developing better user interfaces.

Introduction week

Information

Information concerning the introduction program will be sent 2-3 weeks before the academic year starts.

The first week of September there is a compulsory introduction program for new students that introduces the curriculum, explains its organization and procedures, and presents all the options for putting together an individual study program. Information concerning the introduction program will be sent 2-3 weeks before the academic year starts.

First Year

The first year consists of a set of courses common to all Mechanical Engineering tracks, a social or ethics course, track-specific courses, courses in your chosen specialization, and individual electives.

The forms for submitting or changing your individual study program can be found here.

Second Year

During the second year, you complete your MSc thesis project, preceded by an internship and literature study.

As a student, we expect you to take the lead in arranging these projects yourself and approach the researchers in the BioMechanical Engineering department that you’d like to be your supervisor.
