Dynamics of Structures annotation
The annotation offers a comprehensive, practically relevant and rather advanced cluster of courses which enhance the student’s knowledge in dynamics of structures to the world-class level.
Language: | English |
For students from: | MSc track: Civil Engineering; |
There is a significant increase in the demand of graduates with an in-depth understanding of the dynamic behaviour of structures (buildings, bridges, hydraulic structures, offshore structures). By following the courses offered in this annotation, you will learn how to analyse the dynamic behaviour of structures subjected to a wide class of dynamic loads (earthquakes, wind and wave loading, ice loading), including soil-structure and fluid-structure interaction phenomena.
The examination programme for students who have opted for the annotation Dynamics of Structures must at least include the following:
a) The following subjects adding up to 20 credits:
Code | Course | ECs | Quarter |
---|---|---|---|
Dynamics of Structures | 4 | Q3 | |
Measurement and Analysis of Vibrations | 4 | Q4 | |
Random Vibrations | 4 | Q4 | |
Structural Response to Earthquakes | 4 | Q1* | |
Soil Dynamics | 4 | Q4 | |
Vibration-based Monitoring and Identification | 4 | Q1* |
* To be followed at the first quarter of the second year
b) a Master Thesis Project carrying 40 credits partially focusing on the topic of Dynamics of Structures.
Students who complete the annotation successfully, receive an annotation Dynamics of Structures with their degree certificate. The examination programme for the Dynamics of Structures annotation needs the prior approval by the coordinator and the board of examiners.
