Overview Education on Sustainability

Online learning

Online learning has increased dramatically in recent years. TU Delft has been an active advocate and participant in these developments, creating and sharing world-class educational materials and courses for the public. Many of these have a strong sustainability focus, contributing to the ability of global citizens to address their areas of concern. A list of all available TU Delft MOOCs can be found here, MOOCs with a strong link to sustainability are listed here:

Technology, Business and Policy

Students at TU Delft can also earn official course credits by completing these courses, more info here.

(Thesis) Projects

Within many Delft bachelor and master programs, students conduct research projects and write theses. This is a great opportunity to dedicate part of your study to sustainability. The TU Delft has many passionate professors working in sustainability related fields, enabling copious potential sustainability projects. The campus is also full of potential research topics through ‘living lab’ opportunities. More information can be found in our Research tab.

Some examples of available thesis opportunities include:

(for example, a 2017-2018 student designed a coffee cup recycle waste bin).

BSc and MSc thesis topics are usually agreed in close collaboration with your supervisor(s), so you can also come up with your own topic on TU Delft campus sustainability and find a suitable supervisor. The Green Office are glad to assist you in this phase.

We also help to design and enable these projects. Industrial Ecology students are currently researching a ‘Circular Campus by 2030’ by conducting their third-semester interdisciplinary group project on this topic. We are in contact with the lecturers of the master course Engineering for Sustainable Development, to incorporate this research area in their course.

If you are interested in any of these (thesis) projects or have an idea to set up one yourself, don’t hesitate to contact us!
