A large share of TU Delft research is related to sustainable development, leading to numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals annually. At least 900 researchers work on energy related themes.

The four Delft Research-based Initiatives are presented here, overarching the majority of the TUD research themes with 1700-1800 fte hours of scientific staff. They focus on Energy, Global Development, Health and Infrastructures and Mobility, all heaving a strong sustainability connotation.

The Green Office actively pursues further strengthening the research focus on societal challenges for sustainable development, where connecting research and education to campus developments is an important tool for generating new research and education opportunities with an interdisciplinary character.
