Karin van Nispen
Profile
Differently from most people at the TU Delft, I am not an engineer. My background is in Linguistics. In my PhD at Tilburg University, I studied the use of gestures in people with a language impairment (aphasia). I also worked there as a teacher at Communication and Information sciences and I gained clinical experience at Rijndam rehabilitation centre and two aphasia centres.
I now use my knowledge of (non-verbal) communication and my experience in presenting research (orally or written) to help students (Bachelor, Master or PhD) to get their message across.
As a lecturer for the Center for languages and academic skills, I teach various courses on communicative skills (such as report writing and oral presentation skills). My expertise is in scientific writing and I am involved in courses for master students as well as for PhD students. For the latter, I am also available for coaching sessionstypo3/ on scientific writing.
