S. (Shahrzad) Nikghadam

Profile

Shahrzad is currently a Ph.D. Candidate at Transportation and Logistics group of Technology, Policy and Management Faculty. Before joining TU Delft, she was research assistant of development of multi-agent based virtual enterprise project at Middle East Technical University where she did her masters in Mechanical Engineering. Shahrzad obtained her bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Tabriz University. Besides academia, she also has two years of experience in the industry as a project analyst and system analyst.

Research

The main focus of Shahrzad’s research, in her Ph.D., is to improve the performance of the port nautical chain. This includes analyzing the collaborative system of a maritime port at first place and then developing solution approaches to improve the efficiency of port as a multi-actor system. Throughout the research, port of Rotterdam is considered as the main case of study.

More publications in Pure

Shahrzad is a member of project entitled “Self-organization among autonomous agents in nautical processes in modern seaports (SwarmPort)”. This project is a joint work of researchers from TUDelft, Maastricht University, TNO, Rotterdam Port Authority, Intertransis, ECT and SmartPort. The aim of SwarmPort project is to first understand the self-organizational properties of the nautical chain in a maritime port and then design, develop and implement a practical method for modelling port operational processes to increase reliability, flexibility and resilience of the service chain.
