Martijn Hartog is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Technology, Policy & Management at Delft University of Technology. He received his Master of Science degree in Public Administration, specialisation ‘Public Sector Management’ from Leiden University and his Bachelor of Public Management, specialisation ‘Auditing & Consulting’ from The Hague University of Applied Sciences.

Alongside his PhD he works fulltime as a project- and programme manager digital government for the Central Government of The Netherlands. He has a professional history in consultancy (digital government / finance / planning & control / information management), government administration (CIO, AI and data), managing subsidized R&D programmes (e-government / e-democracy / e-health / e-learning / transparency / open government / Linked & Open Data) and music (jazz improvisation, expertise, leadership and group dynamics).

He specializes in innovation, conceptual thinking and knowledge management.

Research

His current research focusses on the effects of automation and digitalization in public policy-making processes.
