R.A. (Rijk) Mercuur

Profile

I believe in compassion and wisdom. In doing good. I am interested in humans. In the telepathy of social intelligence that coordinates our actions. I believe in what’s important over what’s normal. I am a MSc in Artificial Intelligence. I am a campaigner. I am a guitarist. I am a meditator. I am a donater. I am vegan. I am open to changing. Take a look at my personal website.

Research

In my PhD, I investigate to what extent social psychological models of humans can improve computer simulations. I use these so-called agent-based simulations to investigate social systems: environmental commuting, environmental dining, dividing money or hospitals. By using decision-making models of humans that incorporate human values, norms, habits and social practices, we increase our understanding of these systems: both the current state-of-affairs and how we can influence them for a better future.
