Annotation Nuclear Science and Engineering

 

The principle objective of the Nuclear Science and Engineering (NSE) annotation is to meet the growing demand for qualified nuclear scientists and engineers. The field of nuclear science and engineering is widespread and multidisciplinary. The NSE annotation can be obtained by students from e.g. Applied Physics, Chemical Engineering and other MSc programs. The annotation may focus on either health or energy.

 

Applications of nuclear science are key in the development of nuclear energy, in major breakthroughs in medical diagnostics and treatment, in sensing devices like smoke detectors, in the use of isotopes and ionizing radiation in food and safety technology, in agriculture, in water management and in materials science, to cite a few examples. The field of nuclear science is a rapidly growing scientific discipline, and the demand for qualified nuclear scientists and engineers reflects this upward trend. 

The annotation includes:

  • a thesis project focused on a subject related to NSE (to be done within the Radiation Science and Engineering department or elsewhere within TU Delft),

  • NSE electives,

  • (optional) an NSE-related group design project or industrial internship that may be undertaken in companies all over the world.

A Health Physics expert level 3 course can be part of the program. When you have completed the course, When you have completed the course, you qualify for an Dutch diploma for radiation expert at the level of the coordinating expert in addition to your MSc degree.

 

Note that the annotation NSE will be provided to you as long as you graduate before September 2022. After that, the TU Delft will cancel annotations university wide.
