TU Delft team wins Challenge the Cyber CTF 2024

On the 20th of April 2024, TU Delft students participated in the national “Challenge The Cyber” hacking competition in Eindhoven, and TU Delft Computer Science students Azra Ocak, Iancu Popp, Ksawery Radziwiłowicz, and Per Schrijver won the first prize in the junior division!
After six hours of hard work on reverse engineering, binary exploitation, web hacking, hardware exploitation, and cryptography, the team managed to earn a 5th place on the leaderboard and 1st place in the junior division with a comfortable lead of 1000 points over the runner-up junior team. TU Delft’s senior teams also performed well and ended in 6th, 7th, and 8th place, meaning all TU Delft teams ended up in the top 10. After the competition, a selection of top performers are invited to join the cyber bootcamp, where the Dutch national team for the European Cyber Security Challenge (ECSC) will be formed. After their success in the competition, we hope to see many of our students in the national team.
 

The TU Delft CTF Team is a team of bachelor, master, and PhD students who get together weekly to learn about and teach hacking skills. They participate in so-called capture-the-flag (CTF) competitions, where points are earned by exploiting applications, files and protocols to find secret codes called flags.
