A. (Alex) Cunillera, MSc

Profile

Alex Cunillera is a PhD candidate at the Department of Transport and Planning of TU Delft under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Rob Goverde, Dr. Niels van Oort and Dr. Nikola Bešinović. He received his BSc on Mathematics and Physics at Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a MSc on Physics of Complex Systems at IFISC. He worked as a research assistant at Universidad Pontificia Comillas before joining TU Delft.

Research

His research is focused on assessing the impact of uncertainties and variations of the railway operation, infrastructure and rolling stock on train trajectory optimization. He will develop methods to compute robust speed profiles that optimize the energy consumption and minimize delays in the presence of the mentioned variations. This project is developed in collaboration with NS, the principal passenger railway operator in the Netherlands.
